An excellent addition to the genre Dec 27, 2008
By Derek Schin It was very easy for me to arrive at my rating for this book; it's better than Riding the World: The Biker's Road Map for a Seven Continent Adventure but not quite as good as the Adventure Motorcycling Handbook, 5th: Worldwide Motorcycling Route & Planning Guide (Trailblazer).
However, I certainly recommend buying this book in addition to the AMH, especially if you truly are planning a long-distance motorcycle ride. The book is well-designed and has many fantastic photos from around the world. The advice is very helpful, and even if it doesn't cram quite as much actual advice in as the AMH, it's still an extremely valuable resource. Well-written and researched, this book deserves to be on your shelf.
Even if you're only dreaming of a long ride before you get this book, actually reading it and poring over the beautiful pictures will push you over the brink. Back to planning my route...

adventure riding book review Oct 08, 2008
By G. Neuenfeldt Having ridden off-road the length of Baja in Mexico and done other adventure riding, I've been looking for books on the subject. This book seems to be one of the better ones out there, and covers a majority of the information needed to have a successful ride in and to other countries. The photography is also very good. I recommend it.

Adventure Motorcycling by R. Wick Sep 16, 2008
By L. Jasek This is an excellent book for anyone wanting to get into adventure motorcycling (or just dreaming about it). It has all the info you need to get started planning and what you need to know before you go as well as what you need to take with you. It is well thought out and written, and even includes three ride summaries in the back. Lots of great color photos too. I recommend this book for everyone.

Great starter and easy reader Apr 15, 2009

"Durden"
Great book, very nicely laid out, lots of great pictures and the author obviously knows the Adventure motorcycling scene. Perfect book to leave out on your coffee table. Perfect for the beginner or intermediate traveller and provides great getting started information. May be a bit fluffy for the hard core rider/traveller, but its a great read. My only negative feedback is that the bike review section only has the UK models available, would be nice to have a North American version and have those models reviewed. Other than that - its great.

Useful Jul 18, 2010
By B. Bates I found this book useful in transitioning from touring to adventure touring. Pretty much knew all the information already, so maybe it was intended more for the beginner.
