A must for anyone in Northern California who likes curvy roads. Feb 03, 2008

I've been to Northern California 3 times in the past year, and I have made it a point to research nice curvy roads to run in the Miata and on the bike. I can't say how much time I have spent researching those roads, but it has been a lot of time.
I purchased this book at the end of my last trip, so I have not used it to plan any rides or drives yet. That said, each of the roads I spent hours researching are in this book. Those roads are described perfectly in the book, as well as many more I have passed by, because I did not know they were there.
I plan on moving to Northern California in the near future, and I believe this book will become a dog-eared and frazzled road warrior, as I follow the maps inside. If you like curvy and scenic roads, whether you ride a motorcycle or drive a car, this book is for you.
Destination Highways; Northern California does not give you the best routes to get somewhere; it gives you the best routes to ride, just for the sake of riding. It grades each road on Twistiness Pavement, Engineering, Scenery, Remoteness and finally, Character. It ranks the roads by the final score, but being in this book means it is a great road.
It also gives descriptions of the roads, and places to eat, stay, camp, and find repairs. The authors give this information with witty prose, so don't mistake this for an atlas. It is so much more.
